Member representing Chibok, Damboa and Gwoza areas in the Federal House of Representatives, Ahmed Jaha has distributed agro equipments to assist farmers in his Constituency.

Making the presenting the gifts in Maiduguri on Wednesday, the politician said it was important that the serious farmers enjoy their craft without technical pains at all.

He said that the only problem farmers in his Constituency are going through is the challenge of being slaughtered while in their farms trying to produce food.

While addressing farmers in the jam-packed multipurpose hall of the government house Maiduguri, the politician called for a minute silence for the repose of the souls of farmers killed while tiling their farms in Gwoza.

“Look we are very sad at the geometric progression of the killings in Gwoza. And we are still helpless at the way these insurgents are killing our people with impunity.

” First we lost six farmers, then they slaughtered two days after and later they killed two yesterday while I was still on a condolence visit to the family of the previous farmers killed.

” A total of ten farmers have been killed within this period and the killings continues almost on a daily basis in Gwoza. But that can not deter me from helping my people because if boko haram does not kill them hunger will kill them.” he stressed.

The representative advised the farmers to ensure that they used the equipments judiciously for what they are meant for instead of selling them cheaply to people that may not value it.

Secretary to the Borno State government, Umar Tijani in his remarks expressed delight at the gesture of the member.

He added that it was right for members to learn how to farm for themselves because no government will supply all the food needed by its people if they do not farm.

His words: “Use the equipments for your own good and make sure your neighbors who are farmers can benefit from the gesture to produce more food.

Borno Deputy Governor Umar Kadafur consoled the people of Gwoza for the loss of their priced farmers to boko haram.

He commended the reps member for not forgetting his people at this time of dire need arising from the pangs of fuel subsidy which was withdrawn.

He called on the beneficiaries to put the equipment to good use adding that the member of the reps has done his best, but other colleagues will equally bring theirs to their table accordingly so that the people will become the all round beneficiaries.

He called for collective prayers to bring back the past glories of the once vibrant and rich state.
Equipment shared to the beneficiaries include chemical spraying facilities, water pumps, hand tillers, which will go round the three council areas.
