Osi monarch, Okunato, celebrates 10 years of impact, development

…Launches “A King with a vision” to commemorate Day

The Iresi of Osi Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Oba Olajide David Okunato, Ilufemiloye I, from Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State, has celebrated his ten years on the throne with pomp and pageantry.

The elaborate event, which reached its high point with a party held at his palace in the Osi community, was reported by theImage News.

The celebration featured a series of events, including the presentation of awards and honours to the traditional ruler, cultural dance performances, and the launch and presentation of a book, among others.

As part of the activities lined up for the anniversary, the traditional ruler honoured several individuals with chieftaincy titles.

The 120-page book, titled “A King With A Vision,” was written to commemorate the 10th anniversary.

Attendees included the National Leader of the Pan-Yoruba Socio-Cultural group “Afenifere,” Pa Reuben Fasoranti; former Secretary-General of the group, Bashorun Seinde Arogbofa; and the Secretary to the State Government, Tayo Oluwatuyi, who was represented by legal practitioner Yemi Aladetoyinbo, among others.

In his speech, the Iresi of Osi, Oba Olajide David Okunato, thanked Almighty God for sparing his life to celebrate the 10-year anniversary on the throne in good health, with monumental projects that have brought significant development to the community during his reign.

Okunato expressed his commitment to surpassing the achievements of the past ten years since he became king.

While pledging more developmental projects in the coming years, the royal father assured his readiness to enhance the community through road construction and other developmental initiatives.

He noted that various projects he has single-handedly executed, including building a police station, a magistrate court, and opening Osi Road to Airport Road, were part of his transformation agenda aimed at encouraging investors and boosting the community’s economy.

His tremendous achievements, he said, have inspired the sons and daughters of the community to support his efforts to advance it further.

Since his ascension as the Iresi of Osi Kingdom in 2014, the monarch has demonstrated a deep commitment to cultural preservation, unity, and community prosperity.

Under his dynamic leadership, he pointed out, Osi has flourished through the revitalization of traditional festivals and the appointment of distinguished chiefs, enhancing the cultural vibrancy and cohesion of the kingdom.

“By investing heavily in infrastructure, education, and security, Osi has been transformed from a rural enclave into a thriving community,” he said.

Royal fathers and chiefs at the event extolled the virtues of Oba Okunato, describing him as a reliable monarch and mentor who has used his God-given talents to bring development to the community.

The traditional rulers and chiefs, including the Olu of Eleyowo, Oba Agunbiade Adesina; the Asae of Osi, High Chief Akinyemi Adedayo; the Araba-Awo of Ijoka Kingdom, High Chief Fadamilare Falegan; the Mayegun of Osi, Chief Lanre Adekunle; and the Gbobaniyi of Osi, Chief Valentine Okoye, expressed joy with the monarch and wished him a long life on the throne of his ancestors.

They commended him for liberating the ancient town through his visionary leadership, transforming it into a place of great interest.
