Ondo state governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has called on people of the State to hope for something out of nothing to heal the present state of the country.

This, he said could only be achieved with patient and doubling efforts to move the nation forward.

Akeredolu spoke at the thanksgiving service to commemorate the 63rd Independence Anniversary held on Sunday October 1st, 2023 at the Chapel of Grace, Government House in Akure .

Akeredolu who was represented at the event by the Secretary to the State Government, Princess Oladuni Odu said” “Together, we can continue to build an Ondo State that is prosperous, peaceful and a place where every citizen feels valued and cared for.

“We Can only attain this with more hardwork, enterprise, creativity, consistent fight against corruption and defence of our people.”

While reeling out various government intervention programmes to ameliorate the hardship occasioned by subsidy removal, he assured that the state will spare no efforts at improving the lots of all residents of the State.

The programmes, he further stressed ,would be geared towards moving the State away from the past, building new structures, and consolidating new ways of doing things.

He however reiterated his call for peace across the State as he urged the citizenry to join hands to eschew evil, embrace peace, defend and protect the State at all times.

Earlier in his sermon, Rev. Canon Zacheus Oluwasina called on the people to contribute for the betterment of Nigeria which he said can still be corrected by God as he refered to the scripture in Kings chapter 2 verse 19-22.

Oluwasina who listed several ways of what to do in a situation like what the country finds itself, advised on the need for Nigerians to shun tribalism and embrace love.

He urge people to change their orientation for the better, think rightly and be prayerful with the hope for a new Nigeria.

“It is the responsibility of every Nigerian to pray for the nation, for the leaders so that God will crown their efforts.

He however reminded the people of their starvation calling on them to think right and prepare for eternity as contained in revelation 22 verse 11- 12.
